I am writing in support of candidates Tom Haley, Jackie Matts and Jim Sullivan for the Bennington Select Board.
Tom Haley has been a friend for several years. I have had the privilege of witnessing his dedication to the Town of Bennington not only through his service on the current Select Board, but also in his volunteer efforts at the annual Garlic Town, May and Harvest Fests and at Greater Bennington Community Services. In addition to the time Tom pours into supporting Bennington’s community and economic development, Tom exercises common sense in his approach to Board decisions. He is a listener, a convener and an advocate for Bennington.
Jackie Matts has served our Bennington community in a variety of roles. She has taken a leadership role in the Town’s Charter Review Committee and as the Chair for Queer Connect, supported our youth. Jackie listens to others, leans into tough conversations and considers creative solutions.
Jim Sullivan has demonstrated commitment to the growth and development of Bennington through his years of leadership at the Bennington County Regional Commission. Jim recognizes the challenges facing our community, and has experience working with town officials, state partners and residents to move Bennington forward.
Each of these candidates will bring common sense, commitment and civility to Bennington’s Select Board. They are approachable and collaborative, and truly care about their neighbors. I urge Bennington residents to vote this March 4th and to support the return of respectful, rational and forward-thinking partnership to this Board.
